Jake van den Bossche has joined Scottish Women’s Football as the governing body’s new Lead Administrator and Financial Support Officer.

A former teacher, Jake moved to Scotland in 2021 after living and teaching in England since 2013. He previously worked in administration for the Scottish Qualifications Agency.

Commenting on the appointment, SWF CEO Aileen Campbell said: “We are delighted to welcome Jake to the team, who brings a breadth of experience in education. His solid practical administrative skillset will be a real asset to support the rapid growth of the women’s and girls’ game as we deal with an unprecedented volume of affiliation applications and wellbeing paperwork.”

Van den Bossche said: “Growing up in Canada, success in women’s sport was completely normalised with the women’s Olympic ice hockey team consistently outperforming the men, something which has since been replicated in their national football team.

“I’m keen to play a part in the growth of women’s football in Scotland, and a key part of that is about providing opportunities for girls to play in the grassroots game. I taught in a specialised school in England and saw firsthand how barriers remain to participation, even when one pupil of mine was a talented footballer.”
