Scotland were sunk 8-0 by Spain in Seville in their last FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier of the calendar year.

Abi Harrison smacked a shot against the bar before the hosts opened the scoring, Leila Ouahabi’s cross headed home by Amaiur Sarriegi.

Mariona Caldentey struck from distance and Aitana Bonmati found space in the box to make it 3-0 by the break, a Christie Murray clearance then preventing a fourth.

Sarriegi did get the hosts’ fourth goal and her second after the restart, Bonmati also doubling her tally but only after two good saves by Lee Alexander.

Fresh from winning the Ballon d’Or, Alexia Putellas made it 6-0, with Jenni Hermosa and Esther Gonzalez also getting on the scoresheet.
