London City Lionesses have signed Scotland international full-back Emma Mukandi on a two-year contract following her departure from Reading.
The 30-year-old has 73 caps for her country and has played over 100 games in the WSL for the likes of Arsenal, Reading and Spurs, as well as spells at Glasgow City and Frauen Bundesliga side SGS Essen.
Mukandi told londoncitylionesses.com: “It’s been good so far, with positive training sessions, quality facilities, and a great group of girls.
“After speaking with the coaches and hearing about their project for the team, I felt like it was a good opportunity to still be playing professionally. It’s a chance to try and win promotion to the Women’s Super League and I really like the sound of that.”
Assistant Coach Nicola Williams added: “Emma is one of the most experienced players we have in the squad this season, coming from the Women’s Super League. She was very prominent in the Arsenal squad years ago and remains at a very high level.
“She’ll be one of our prominent leaders, which we have already seen in training this week. The way she communicates with her teammates on the field adds a lot of value for us too.”
