MT Gardiner gave Hamilton a 14th-minute lead and Kathleen McGovern doubled the advantage after the hour mark.

Jessica Broderick pulled a goal back with ten minutes to go but the Dons ran out of time to rescue a point.

Dundee United moved within three points of the leaders but from a game more, with a 2-0 victory over St Johnstone.

A counter attack from a Saints corner saw Robyn Smith drive forward and set up Jade McLaren to score.
