Golden glove winner at #FIFAWWC2019 and Netherlands goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal has joined Atlético de Madrid following the end of her contract at Arsenal.
She made 48 appearances for the Gunners, has over 50 caps for the Dutch national team and joins a side that attracted a record 60,000+ crowd last season for their top of the table clash with Barcelona.
The 29-year-old World Cup runner-up told atleticodemadrid.com: “Atleti has proven its worth in women’s football over the past few years. The club offers me the best conditions to continue developing as a goalkeeper.”
The ‘Rojiblanca’ believe Van Veenendaal and fellow custodian Lola Gallardo will form ‘one of the best pairs of goalkeepers nationally and internationally’.
