Runcorn Linnets win seven-goal thriller deep into added time

The North West Women’s Regional League’s first midweek matches of the season featured a thrilling 4-3 victory for Runcorn Linnets away to Warrington Wolves.

There was also a stoppage-time decider from West Didsbury & Chorlton’s Sophie Bracegirdle, to add to Taylor-Louise Gunn’s double, in a 3-2 result at Cheadle Town Stingers.

Still in the Premier Division, Darwen made it two wins from two with all three goals of the game at Blackburn CSC, while Salford City Lionesses ran out 5-0 victors in front of 145 at Bury.

A crowd of 310 saw Radcliffe beaten 4-1 at home by Mancunian Unity, who continued their winning start in Division 1 North.

Accrington Stanley did likewise with a 3-1 result over Haslingden aided by a Millie Jardine brace, likewise Penrith with three goals at Carlisle United and Preston North End who put four past Bolton Wanderers

Morecambe appear to be the team to watch for goals, their 4-5 home defeat to Penwortham Town following on from Sunday’s extraordinary 8-7 loss at Penrith.

Runcorn Linnets’ Mollie Bennett hit a hat-trick during a dramatic 4-3 win at Warrington Wolves for the Division 1 South leaders.

Mossley Hill Athletic’s Olivia Ellinson and Faye Stanhope notched trebles as they hit hosts Litherland REMYCA for six.

There were 3-1 home wins for Wythenshawe over Poulton Victoria and Chester against Ellesmere Port Town, while Altrincham came away from Northwich Vixens with a 2-0 success.
