Regional Leagues Round-up: Super-sub’s treble helps York RI win 7-6

Regional League dramas featured York RI’s 7-6 away win with a super-sub’s hat-trick, plus two 5-5 draws in the West Midlands Premier.

EASTERN – Seven up for Real Bedford 

Premier – Natasha Fensome’s treble for Real Bedford helped make it seven straight wins, 4-1 over Royston Town. Stevenage’s Amy Makewell hit a hat-trick in a 4-4 tie at Barking, three goals also for Wroxham’s Hannah Fuller during a 5-1 result at AFC Dunstable. Luton Town won 3-1 at St Albans City aided by a Leyah Maddix brace, Bowers & Pitsea beat Needham Market by a similar score as Whitney Locke got a couple. Haringey Borough thrashed Kings Lynn Town 14-0.

1 North – Fakenham Town sent Histon to a 6-2 defeat, Mulbarton Wanderers won 5-3 at Stevenage Devs and Kamile Omeleviciute got both goals for Thetford Town in a 2-2 tie with Newmarket Town.

1 South – Hertford Town hit top spot as substitute Nicole Emmings netted in a 3-2 win over Wodson Park, watched by over 100. Grays Athletic are off the mark after a 2-2 draw with Southend United, whose Eloise Ives completed her brace after the break. Hutton came from behind to beat Lawford 2-1.

League Cup 1st Rd – Billericay Town Devs defeated Cheshunt 6-2 away, Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers scored all three goals at Wormley Rovers, Wootton Blue Cross edged out Biggleswade United 1-0 and Watford Devs had a walkover against Yaxley Phoenix.

EAST MIDLANDS – Grimsby Borough super sub scores twice

Premier – Lincoln United’s 3-0 result at Mansfield Town was their fourth win in a row, second-placed Chesterfield Ladies won by the same score at Dunton & Broughton United. Grimsby Town’s Danielle Brighton was shown a second yellow card in added time as Basford United went away 1-0 winners. Anstey Nomads saw off Ilkeston Town 3-1 and Rotherham United romped to an 8-0 win over Long Eaton United.

1 Central – Nottingham Trent University netted seven against Notts County Devs to go top, Loughborough Foxes Vixens’s 6-2 result at Asfordby Amateurs featured a four-goal haul for Renae Huggan-Broughton. Beaumont Park beat Sandiacre Town 5-1 and it finished one apiece between West Bridgford and Sherwood.

1 North – Grimsby Borough sub Milly North scored twice in the 2-1 victory at Retford, Gainsborough Trinity edged Dronfield Town 3-2 as Izzy Anderson’s  double was added to by Alice Hill’s decider. Oughtibridge WM overcame Lincoln United Devs 7-1, Sleaford Town sent Skegness Town home  beaten 5-1.

1 South – Newport Pagnell Town hit the summit with six goals at Buckingham United, Stamford second after a 3-1 result over Kettering Town in which Beatriz Borque-Arnal bagged a brace. Northampton Town Devs defeated Thrapston Town 2-1 to leapfrog them into fourth, it was goalless between New Bradwell St Peter and Leicester City Ladies.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Seven in a row for Dartford

Premier – Dartford have won all seven games to date, following a 2-0 victory over Crawley AFC. Dulwich Hamlet got the only goal of the game with Saltdean United that attracted a crowd of 363, Fulham sank Sutton United 4-1 watched by 189 fans. Millwall Lionesses mauled Aylesford 8-0 with the latter having Becky Burnham cautioned twice, while elsewhere it was; Ebbsfleet United 4-1 Enfield Town, Dorking Wanderers 1-0 Ashford United. There are several games this midweek: Tues 10 Oct: Dorking v Sutton (Meadowbank Stadium, 7.45pm), Weds 11 Oct: Fulham v Dulwich (Motspur Park, 7.30pm), Saltdean v Crawley  (Hill Park, 7.45pm)

1 North – Actonians Reserves beat Sport London e Benfica 3-0 to replace them at the top, Brentford sub Ellen Wardlaw scored to give the Bees a 2-1 win at Dulwich Hamlet Reserves. Thursday 11 October sees Clapton host Hackney at the Old Spotted Dog Ground and Dulwich Hamlet Reserves play Camden & Islington at Dulwich Heath.

1 South – Montpelier Villa were 3-2 winners at Bognor Regis Town on Wednesday, Newhaven made it seven in a row with a 4-2 win at Dartford Reserves on Sunday. Herne Bay’s Daisy Marsh got both goals of the win at Hassocks, Bognor beat Hastings United 6-1 and Eastbourne United were 3-1 winners against Steyning Town. Leaders . Newhaven entertain Eastbourne at Fort Road Recreation Ground on Thursday.

League Cup 1st Rd – Clapton came away from Welling United 5-3 winners with two from Emily-Jayne Link, Bromley beat Denham United 3-1 as Charlotte Lee struck twice, Bexhill United beat Richmond Park 3-0 away, while Whyteleafe eliminated Montpelier Villa 2-1.

NORTH EAST – York RI in extraordinary 7-6 away win

Premier – Sunderland West End won the top of the table clash at Spennymoor Town 4-3, South Shields went second with a 4-1 result at Wakefield AFC. Hull United beat Barnsley FC 2-0 away, Bradford City put seven past Hartlepool United, Wallsend BC won 5-2 against Harrogate Town and Redcar Town’s Tahleigh Cook scored on 82 minutes in a 1-1 draw at Alnwick Town.

1 North – Sunderland U-23s moved three points clear with an 8-0 score over Thornaby, which included a Mary Corbyn 21-minute first-half treble. Gateshead stung hosts Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves 6-1, Ponteland United matched that score line against Wallsend BC Reserves with Sophie Curle getting three goals. Consett’s 3-2 win over Chester le Street United came courtesy of an Amber Hemming decider, while Washington won 2-1 at Bishop Auckland.

1 South – York Railway Institute substitute Jodie Langstaff scored three times in a remarkable 7-6 success at Millmoor, where Stazia Seaton struck the 92nd-minute winner. York City Devs’ sub Rosie Bell got two in a 3-3 draw with Ossett United, Lower Hopton’s Bethany Ellis netted three in a 5-0 win at Sheffield United Foundation, Chesterfield FC Women’s Chloe Foster claimed four of their seven at Ripon City. Altofts’ Emily Scott got the sole goal at Harworth Colliery, Farsley Celtic JFC Ladies drew 2-2 with Handsworth.

NORTH WEST – Ellesmere’s Sword swiftly cuts down Altrincham

Premier – Cheadle Town Stingers went level on points with leaders Darwen, thanks to Sophie John’s 71st-minute breakthrough at Blackpool. Salford City Lionesses impressively drew 4-4 at Tranmere Rovers, while it was 1-1 between Curzon Ashton and Crewe Alexandra.

1 North – Accrington Stanley beat Fleetwood Town Wrens Reserves 3-0 to move level on points with the top two; Preston North End and Mancunian Unity, the latter having lost 3-1 at Morecambe. Bolton Wanderers stunned hosts Carlisle United, as Regan Lord and Hannah Wilkinson scored in the last couple of minutes for a dramatic 2-1 win. Elsewhere, Penrith ran out 5-1 winners over Workington Reds.

1 South – Kerry Baker’s double included the winner as Warrington Wolves won 4-3 at Runcorn Linnets, Ellesmere Port Town substitute Nadine Sword took two minutes to get the only goal at Altrincham. Chester hit Hindley 6-1 with Molly Wood’s four-goal tally featuring three in six minutes, Poulton Vics went second with seven goals at Litherland REMYCA.

SOUTHERN – Ascot fightback for point

Premier – Ascot United retrieved a two-goal deficit two hold visitors Bournemouth Sports 2-2, substitute Sarah Leonard and Amelia Kimble with their comeback goals. Winchester City Flyers’ Shayne Prasad scored twice to overturn home side Warminster Town’s 1-0 lead. Oxford City sub Bethany Chapman got the winner in a 2-1 result at Woodley United, Wycombe Wanderers beat Badshot Lea with Bobby Lynch tucking away the single goal.

1 North – Wycombe Wanderers U-23s won the top-two clash at Long Crendon 2-1, Ammara Qureshi coming off the bench to score and Shannon Read with the decisive goal. Kidlington won 4-2 at Caversham United, as did Chesham United Devs away to Beaconsfield Town, Penn & Tylers Green were 3-1 victors over Ascot United Reserves.

1 South – Woking won 7-0 at Selsey Devs, Sheena Nichol completing her hat-trick in added time during which there was also a double from sub Trudy Bryan-Kerr. Havant & Waterlooville won 3-0 at Rushmoor, AFC Stoneham put five past Bournemouth Sports Reserves and Abbey Rangers just got the better of Fleet Town 2-1.

SOUTH WEST – Sherborne go top

Premier – Sherborne Town lead following a 3-1 win at Liskeard Athletic, Bristol Rovers hit AFC St Austell 6-1. Marine Academy Plymouth’s Megan Boulton scored the only goal to beat Forest Green Rovers, Pucklechurch Sports picked up three points with a similar score against Frampton Rangers

1 East – Poole Town picked up a fourth win on the spin, as substitute Alice Fisher contributed to a 3-2 result at Frome Town. Bath City beat Royal Wootton Bassett Town 2-1 with Amy Key’s 91st-minute goal, Stockwood Wanderers sank Ridgeway 5-1 and Shaftesbury’s Ellie Cooper got the decider in a 2-1 victory at Weymouth.

1 North – Weston super Mare got all five goals at Paulton Rovers, Gloucester City beat Bitton 4-1, AEK Boco won 3-0 against Mangotsfield United, Downend Flyers defeated SGS Olveston United by a single goal, while St Vallier and Bristol Rovers Devs drew 1-1.

1 West – Ilminster Town stuck five past Sticker for their fourth straight win, Feniton’s Megan Williams notched a treble as they won 6-0 at Bideford, Saltash United overcame Middlezoy by the same score.

WEST MIDLANDS – Two 5-5 draws in the Premier Division

Premier – Worcester City went above Burton Albion into second after thrashing them 8-0 away, as Olivia Mitcham found the net three times. Lye Town lead by two points after a 3-2 defeat of Shrewsbury Town, Kidderminster Harriers went down to a Coundon Court goal from Jessica Lundie, Knowle sub Yvette Dolphin got the one goal at Lichfield City. There were a couple of amazing 5-5 draws, as Solihull Sporting’s Eliza Hickey hit a hat-trick against Coventry Sphinx and Crusaders were held by Shifnal Town.

1 North – Newcastle Town have five wins in a row after a 3-1 result at Leek Town Reserves, Walsall FC’s Saanya Najib scored a last-minute goal to force a 2-2 tie with Tamworth. Lichfield City Reserves’ Danielle Kingston got a couple in the 3-2 win at Darlaston Town, Walsall Wood won 5-2 at Coventrians, AFC Telford United went one better at Coventry City.

1 South – Redditch United ran out 6-2 winners at Sedgley & Gornal United, Worcester City Devs won 5-3 against Rugby Town. Long Itchington beat Bewdley Town 4-0, Kingfisher defeated Droitwich Spa 2-1 and Redditch Borough held Leamington Lions 1-1.
