Regional Leagues Round-up: FC United win title ‘six-pointer’

One change in Regional League Premier Division leadership came when FC United of Manchester defeated Curzon Ashton in a top-two clash. 

EASTERN – Needham Market defeat leaders

Premier – Needham Market defeated leaders Stevenage with a Lois Balfour effort, AFC Sudbury also gained ground with a Holly Kennard decider at Luton Town, likewise Haringey Borough who downed Wroxham 5-1. Bowers & Pitsea took the points 2-1 at Royston Town, Colney Heath beat Bedford 2-0.

1 North – AFC Dunstable put four past Fakenham Town to move three points clear, while Biggleswade United were beaten at home by St Ives Town. Yaxley Phoenix won 2-1 at Newmarket Town.

1 South – Barking beat Cheshunt 5-1 to remain on course for the title, Daisy Canny’s four-goal haul in a 20-minute spell led to Lawford’s 6-1 result at AFC Sudbury Reserves. Billericay Town Devs won 3-0 at Grays Athletic, as did  Hutton home to Wodson Park.

EAST MIDLANDS – Arnold and Lincoln United make Cup final

1 North – Grimsby Town overame Gainsborough Trinity 3-0 to take first place from them on goal-difference, Sleaford Town won 2-0 at Lincoln United Devs, SJR Worksop defeated Grimsby Borough 4-0.

League Cup – Arnold Eagles edged Oughtibridge WM 4-3 with an Eve Shaw treble and 89th-minute Natasha Leach winner, Lincoln United went through 5-2 in the other semi-final at Ilkeston Town.

League Plate – Loughborough Foxes Vixens made the final 4-2 on penalties following a 0-0 deadlock at Thrapston Town, they will meet Nottingham Trent University who eliminated Sherwood 5-1.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Worthing stay on Ebbsfleet’s heals 

Premier – Ebbsfleet United defeated Fulham 4-2 to retain the leadership, Worthing stayed on their heals with a 2-0 victory over Dartford. Saltdean United won 3-1 at Enfield Town, Dulwich Hamlet 5-1 at Aylesford and Sutton United 5-2 against AFC Acorns.

1 North – Clapton won 3-0 against Whyteleafe in front of 203, keeping goal-difference ahead of Brentford, 6-2 victors over Leatherhead. Dorking Wanderers defeated Watford Development 2-0 and are best placed in the title race. Sport London E Benfica sub Shazelle Pascall-Louis scored for a 3-2 win at Hackney, Denham United’s Jenny Nagle netted all three they won 3-1 at Richmond Park.

1 South – Leaders Hastings United hit Steyning Town 6-1 with three apiece from Charlotte Gurr and Sian Heather, Ashford United netted nine at Maidstone United to stay in touching distance. Montpelier Villa’s Lou Tindall got the only goal at Cray Valley, Bromley beat Eastbourne United 3-1, while there were 1-1 draws at Bexhill United v Welling Welling and Herne Bay v Newhaven.

NORTH EAST – Hartlepool United narrowly lead 

Premier – Mary Corbyn notched a double hat-trick as Redcar Town romped to a 11-0 rout of Harrogate Town, Hull United sent Wallsend BC to a 5-1 defeat.

1 North – Hartlepool United lead on goal-difference after a 2-0 victory at Chester le Street United, Bishop Auckland’s Beth Vasey was cautioned twice in added time as Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves got six second-half goals for an 8-2 result, Gateshead edged Hartlepool Pools Youth 1-0.

1 South – Millmoor’s Alesha Gale and Abby Watkinson shared their four goals at Harworth Colliery that put them third.

NORTH WEST – FC United topple Curzon Ashton 

Premier – FC United of Manchester dislodged Curzon Ashton from the top with a 1-0 away win over them, Salford City Lionesses defeating Mossley Hill Athletic 4-2 to go level with the new leaders. Cheadle Town Stingers won 3-0 against West Didsbury & Chorlton, Fleetwood Town Wrens’ sub Beth Farrell-Gregory gave them a 2-1 win at Blackburn CSC, Crewe Alexandra defeated Darwen 4-1 away.

1 North – Chorley Devs drew 3-3 with third-placed Accrington Stanley, Carlisle United pegged back Penrith 1-0,  Penwortham Town are out of the bottom two after beating Workington Reds 4-1, Preston North End put seven past Sir Tom Finney.

1 South – Bury AFC opened up a three-point lead with a 7-4 score over Hindley, in which Sophie Charlton got four. Warrington Wolves beat Northwich Vixens 4-0, Chester won 4-1 at Alder, likewise BRNESC home to Wythenshawe Amateurs.

SOUTHERN – Ascot and Eastleigh into League Cup final 

Premier – Bournemouth Sports still have hope of second spot, having taken the points 3-0 at Winchester City Flyers.

1 North – Milton United came from behind for a 4-3 result at Long Crendon, with substitute Lily Norton on target.

1 South – Woking were 3-2 winners over second in the table AFC Stoneham, Rebecca Tiney coming off the bench to grab the decider.

League Cup – Ascot United reached the final when eliminating Wycombe Wanderers 3-1, Eastleigh joined them with a 5-0 result over Rushmoor.

Chairman’s Cup – Abingdon United hit hosts Penn & Tylers Green for six, to set up a final against
Chichester City or Woodley United.

SOUTH WEST – Five games, four red cards

Premier – There were three red cards in only two games, Georgia Vandries with a goal and dismissal as Bristol Rovers moved three points clear with a 2-0 defeat of Warminster Town, whose Millie Spratt was also set off. Ilminster Town’s Renee Marquis saw red as Poole Town picked up their first win 3-0.

1 East – Pucklechurch Sports made it twelve straight wins 3-1 at Paulton Rovers, aided by Adele Hooper’s double.

1 West – Sticker cut Marine Academy Plymouth’s lead as Chloe Harris got three of their five goal against Budleigh Salterton, Feniton won 3-0 at Bideford despite Sarah Bell’s sending off.

WEST MIDLANDS – Coventry Sphinx continue 100% record

Premier – Sutton Coldfield Town scored six at Redditch United, Kidderminster Harriers two at Lichfield City,  Shrewsbury Town sub Alicia Robinson gave them a 2-1 win over Solihull Sporting, while Lye Town beat Burton Albion 6-2.

1 North – Shifnal Town have a six-point lead after the 4-0 defeat of Lichfield City Reserves, in which Rebecca-Lee Bown got a hat-trick. AFC Telford United held second-placed Walsall Wood 2-2, Coventry City defeated Darlaston Town 2-1.

1 South – Coventry Sphinx have 14 victories in a row following a 3-0 result at Leamington Lions, Knowle’s Demi-Lee Rolph hit a treble during a 6-2 win at Bewdley Town. Long Itchington beat Kingfisher 5-1 with four from Humera Ashfaq, Worcester City Devs defeated Droitwich Spa 4-0.
