Leicester City WFC Development won the East Midlands League, while there was cup glory for Cambridge City and Newmarket Town.
EASTERN – Cambridge City capture the double
PREMIER – Acle United clinched the runners-up spot after they edged Colney Heath 2-1, Garce Birchall with both their goals. Royston Town missed out on second having been thrashed at home by Peterborough Northern Star, Katie Steward with four goals in an 8-1 scoreline.
ONE – There was also a four-goal haul for Rachel Skinner in Kings Lynn Town’s 6-2 victory at Bishops Stortford, while Hutton were held 3-3 at home by Lawford.
LEAGUE CUP FINAL – Cambridge City completed a league and cup double but only after Bedford had taken them to penalties following a 2-2 tie.
LEAGUE PLATE FINAL – This too was a tight tie in which Newmarket Town edged Histon by the odd goal in five.
EAST MIDLANDS – Foxes finish first
PREMIER – Leicester City WFC Development became champions after a 3-3 home draw with second-placed Oughtibridge WMSC, who finished third as Peterborough United had a walkover against Eastwood. Kathryn Mudge levelled for Oughtibridge in the last minute. Elsewhere, Kettering Town went two up against Rise Park with the visitors replying once.
1 SOUTH – Corby Town’s third win of the season came 3-2 at home to Loughborough Foxes Vixens.
GREATER LONDON PREMIER – Lionesses land second spot
New London Lionesses won 3-1 away to champions Ashford Town (Middx) in order to pip Godalming Town to second place.
GLWFL TROPHY S-F – Comets made the final with a 5-1 beating of Bromley in which Courtney Bell and Rachel Soraes each bagged a brace. Next Sunday’s three finals are being held at Bedfont Sports FC from 11am.
NORTH WEST – Finals double-header
Runcorn Linnets FC hosts a trophy final double-header next Sunday (19 May), with the League Cup contested by FC United of Manchester and Stockport County at 4pn, preceded at noon by Stockport County Blues and Wigan Athletic in the Plate.
SOUTHERN – Wasps clinch fifth place
PREMIER – Third-placed Oxford City finished by hitting basement side Barton Rovers for six. Warsash Wasps had secured fifth spot with a 2-1 midweek success at Winchester City Flyers, Hayley Crisp and Megan Fox with their goals.
WEST MIDLANDS – Harriers hit five
1 SOUTH – Runners-up, Kidderminster Harriers, got all five goals of the game at Droitwich Spa in their penultimate outing of the campaign, Kirsty Roberts on target twice.
