Regional League Round-Up: Blackburn CSC and Sherborne Town go top

Blackburn CSC and Sherborne went top in the Women’s Regional Leagues, while York City won a the clash of a leading pair.

EASTERN – Draw lifts Lynn

Premier – Just the single game was played due to County Cup competitions and it saw Kings Lynn Town up to fifth after a 1-1 draw with fourth-placed Wroxham.

NORTH EAST – York City win top of the league clash

Premier – York City extended their lead to eight points with a 4-2 defeat of second-placed Redcar Town. Wallsend BC’s 3-1 win over Hartlepool United lifted them above their visitors and into eighth spot.

1 North – West Allotment Celtic went up two to fourth with a 4-2 victory against Prudhoe Town, in which Hannah Dodds hit a hat-trick. Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves made it eight straight defeats for Guisborough Town, Sacha Millward scoring four times in the 6-2 result.

1 South – York Railway Institute lead the table by six points after just getting the better of Bradford Park Avenue, three goals to two.

NORTH WEST – Crewe hold leaders

Premier – Third-placed Crewe Alexandra held leaders Merseyrail 3-3 and Tranmere Rovers made up ground with all ten goals of the game at Mossley Hill Athletic. Cheadle Town Stingers won 5-1 over West Didsbury & Chorlton,  Salford City Lionesses were six up at half-time against Wigan Athletic, who kept a clean sheet in the second half and got a goal themselves.

1 North – Blackburn CSC regained the leadership from Blackpool with a 3-0 win over Carlisle United, Workington Reds moved up to third with a 3-1 result against Penwortham Town, Penrith popped above Chorley DS into fourth when defeating them 3-2. Accrington Stanley were 6-2 winners at Morecambe Reserves, Preston North End eased to a 9-2 result at Sir Tom Finney.

1 South – Altrincham are without a point but restricted leaders Chester to a 2-0 away win, Warrington Wolves stayed second with a 4-2 win at Didsbury and Curzon Ashton climbed to third with a 4-1 success at Alder.

SOUTHERN – First Division’s leading pair draw

Premier – Chloe Ball got a couple as Abingdon Town defeated Wycombe Wanderers 4-0 to rise to third position.

Division 1 – AFC Stoneham dropped their first points but only in a 2-2 tie at leaders AFC Bournemouth DS. Bournemouth Sports sit second following their 5-1 win at Southampton Women’s Reserves.

SOUTH WEST – Sherborne new leaders

Premier – Sherborne Town got the only goal of the game with Bishops Lydeard to takeover at the top from Ilminster Town. AFC St Austell are third thanks to a 3-0 win at Middlezoy Rovers, while Torquay United netted a dozen against Bideford.

1 East – Keynsham Town Reserves went three points clear as Vicky Vipond scored three of their eight goals against Frome Town. Paulton Rovers ran out 5-0 winners at AK Boco, despite starting the day beneath them in the table.

1 West – Plymouth Argyle U-23s won 3-0 at local rivals Saltash United to stay in pole position, Helston Athletic returned from Feniton with a 2-1 win, Liskeard Athletic went one better at Liverton United.

WEST MIDLANDS – Shifnal first to take points off Shrewsbury

Premier – Lye Town’s 3-1 win at Coundon Court lifted them above their hosts into seventh spot.

1 North – Shifnal Town and Shrewsbury Town drew the top of the table clash 2-2, the Shrews dropping points for the first time this season. Walsall Wood had a walkover at fourth-placed AFC Telford United.

1 South – Chloe Debaes scored four times in a 6-3 thriller that saw Rugby Town rise above visitors Westfields into eighth place.
