Regional League Round-Up

Six goals and two red cards at Wakefield, three of Ascot’s substitutes score four of their goals and Peterborough United end Northampton’s 100% form in stoppage-time.

EASTERN – Four in a row for Billericay

PREMIER – Billericay Town have won all their first four games, following a 3-1 result at AFC Sudbury. Writtle went second when beating Bedford in a seven-goal thriller, Acle United third following a 2-1 win over Cambridge City.  AFC Dunstable banked their first win at the expense of Brentwood Town. There were two big victories as Colney Heath netted nine at Lowestoft Town with four from Christina Freestone and Royston Town put a dozen past Colchester Town, hat-tricks for Sammy Tinsley, Becky Shephard, Gemma Croucher and Frankie Smither in the Crows first win of the season.

1 NORTH – King’s Lynn Town went level on points with leaders Histon after a 2-1 defeat of Ipswich Town Development, in which Oksana Imanalijeva and Shelley Woods were on target.

CUP 1ST ROUND – Bishops Stortford won the the best of five goals at Hertford Town, as did Stevenage in their Reserves clash with Cambridge United. A Georgia Fraser sealed Little Thurrock Dynamos’ progress past Hutton, while Wymondham Town hit Ipswich Wanderers for six.

EAST MIDLANDS – Posh added-time goal ends Cobblers’ 100% record

PREMIER – Eastwood, Peterborough Northern Star and Leicester City WD stay on maximum points with wins against Kettering Town, Arnold Town and Ollerton Town respectively. Cassie Steward scored four and Vicky Gallagher got a hat-trick in PNS’s 7-1 result. Mansfield Town are off the bottom with a 2-1 scoreline against Nettleham and Mansfield Hosiery Mills scored twice in the last 10 minutes through Kelly Staples and Bethany Wilcockson, to rescue a point at Rise Park.

1 NORTH – Lincoln Moorlands Railway defeated leaders Woodlands 3-1, with Lauren Churcher bagging a brace in the first 16 minutes. Second-placed Calverton also dropped their first points, held 3-3 at Grimsby Borough despite a Hayley Brown treble. Amy Wainwright got four of Teversal’s five against Market Warsop as they went third, Hykeham Town sank Arnold Town Development 6-1.

1 SOUTH – Peterborough United became the first to deny Northampton Town victory thanks to a 94th-minute Bronwyn Mullheron effort in a 3-3 tie. Oadby & Wigston Dynamo are two pointe behind the Cobblers after defeating Desford 6-0. A Tia Webb treble saw AFC Leicester to a 4-1 success at Riverside  Thrapston Town’s 3-1 score over Cosby United was down to goals by Hannah Pendred and Kelly Rickwood (2) in the opening 17 minutes. Corby Stewarts & Lloyds shared four goals with Heather, for whom Rebecca Dobney got both.

CUP 1ST ROUND – Corby Town will visit Kettering Town in the second round, having beaten Draycott Victoria 3-1 after extra-time.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Phoenix rise to the top

AFC Phoenix are the new leaders on goal-difference from Crawley Wasps, having sent Carshalton Athletic to a first reverse by four goals to one, two of those by Elizabeth Wicks. Fulham got off the mark in a 5-3 victory at Eastbourne Town, where Serine Johannessen and Naffie Sillah got two each.

NORTH EAST – Two dismissed at Wakefield v Hartlepool

PREMIER – Durham Cestria have won both their games after a 2-0 result at York City, with goals in stoppage-time of each half from Molly Holder and Nisha Mistry. There were six goals and two red cards as Wakefield and Hartlepool finished 3-3, the hosts losing Francisca Boafa, United having Faye Garside dismissed. Norton & Stockton Ancients made a winning start, Anna Mawton getting three in a 7-3 scoreline at RACA Tynedale, positive starts also for Wallsend (3-1 v East Yorkshire Carnegie) and Farsley, 3-2 winners at Castleford White Rose.

1 NORTH – Consett are top after getting nine goals at Guisborough, four of those by Beth Wilson, three from Stephanie Curry. York RI edged Blyth 5-4 with a Tehillah Ndhlovu hat-trick and Jodie Langstaff brace. Boro Rangers’ nine goals against Prudhoe had Alex Hodgson leading the way with four, Larissa Burkinshaw netting three, while Boldon got six at Cramlington.

1 SOUTH – Malet Lambert lead with two wins after a 2-0 defeat of Ossett Albion, Altofts kicked off by winning 2-0 at Harrogate Railway.

NORTH WEST – Woolton down Wrens to go top

PREMIER – MSB Woolton went top when winning 4-1 at Fleetwood Town Wrens. Stockport County leapfrogged Sir Tom Finney into fourth when beating them 5-0 away. Tranmere Rovers’ first win came 5-2 at Accringtons, CMB are off the mark after a 2-2 draw with Wigan Athletic.

1 NORTH – Bury’s 3-3 draw at Cammell Laird lifted them into pole position, as Leigh RMI crashed 5-0 at home to Penrith. Kendal’s opening victory came 3-1 at Bolton Wanderers Reserves, Morecambe Reserves’ was a 2-0 result over Preston North End, while Workington Reds were goalless with Carlisle United.

1 SOUTH – Liverpool Feds Reserves edged Northwich Vixens 3-2 to take top spot, West Didsbury & Chorlton opened with four unanswered goals at home to City of Liverpool and Crewe Aleandra Development defeated Altrincham 3-1.

SOUTHERN – Ascot super-subs help Chesham go first

PREMIER – Chesham United took over at the top, winning 4-1 over Winchester City Flyers with a couple from Gemma Fraser. Ascot United accounted for former leaders Milton Keynes City, three substitutes on target in their 4-0 success. Newbury are second after hittin Team Solent 6-0. Oxford City were off to a flying start at New Milton Town, a Lauren May treble contributing to an 8-1 scoreline.

1 NORTH – Wargrave were the first to deny Barton Rovers victory, Wendy Hooper scoring twice in 20 minutes in a 3-3 tie. Alice Lilley’s brace meant Wokingham & Emmbrook were off the mark, 2-1 victors over Oxford City Nomads.

1 SOUTH – Southampton WFC moved clear at the top with their Reserves 5-0 winners at counterparts from Wichester City Flyers, aided by three from Karleen Hellard.

SOUTH WEST – Wildly varied fortunes for top two

PREMIER – Marine Academy Plymouth’s 10-3 result at AEK Boco came with a Sam Drewery hat-trick and sent them top, as Middlezoy went down 9-1 at Buckland Athletic, for whom Amber Coates got three. Charlestown were pegged back to draw 1-1 with Keynsham Town Development, Torquay United won 5-2 at Downend Flyers with doubles from Daisy Self and Sian Chapman, Ilminster Town got both goals in the match with Bishops Lydeard.

EASTERN DIV – Three wins on the spin now for Wootton Bassett Town, with Laura Gammon getting the only goal at Cheltenham Civil Service. A 3-3 draw meant both Swindon Town Development and Almondsbury both lost 100% records. Cheltenham Town Development edged Frome Town 3-2, Team Mendip took the points 3-1 at Swindon Spitfires, Oldland Abbotonians sub Lidiya Mykhalechko netted in the 1-1 draw with St Nicholas Reserves.

WESTERN DIV – Alphington’s perfect start was brought to an end by Bude Town, with Kirsty Brown’s opener cancelled out by Sarah Badham. Plymouth Argyle Reserves are a point off the lead since they walloped Exeter & Tedburn Rangers 13-1, Hayley Ranachan getting four off the bench. Activate Jodie Smith accounted for half Callington Town’s six goals at Activate. Plympton’s Shannon Workman scored the solitary goal to beat Bideford.

WEST MIDLANDS – Third wins for Crusaders and Leafield

PREMIER DIVISION – Crusaders and Leafield Athletic extended their winning start to three games, the former 3-1 over Kingshurst Sporting Club, the latter 4-1 at Bedworth United, where Amy Andrews struck twice. Coundon Court beat Knowle 2-1 to go above them, Lye Town’s first win came 2-0 at Wolverhampton Sporting, while Worcester United and Leamington Lions drew the basement battle 3-3.

1 NORTH – Wyrley hold first place after a 3-1 win at Bilbrook, where Carly Aldred got two of their goals. Sutton Coldfield Town just managed a second win, 3-2 at Shrewsbury Juniors. A Lyndsey Bradbury brace was crucial for Florence, enabling them to get going with a 3-3 draw at home to Brereton Town.  Goldenhill Wanderers made a strong beginning by overrunning Atherstone Rangers 9-3 with three of those all in the first half by Beth Caddy, Leek Town opened with a 4-1 result with Tamworth

1 SOUTH – Coventry Sphinx beat top of the table Droitwich Spa 4-2, Joanne Ryan scoring twice. Solihull United are level on points with the leaders after sinking Rugby Town 7-0, hat-tricks from Nicola Bayliss and Hayley Wilford. Gornal ran in a dozen goals at Coventry Development, half those for Rachel Letford. Kidderminster Harriers went above Solihull Sporting when putting five past them away from home, Stourbridge were beaten 3-0 by visiting Redditch United.
