Reading have signed Norway’s Amalie Eikeland from IL Sandviken and Dutch youth international Maxime Bennink from PEC Zwolle.
Eikeland joins the Royals during the mid-season break of Sandviken’s campaign in the Toppserien, having helped them up to third in the division.
Manager Kelly Chambers told the club’s website: “I’m excited to finally bring Amalie to Reading. It is a signing that has taken a while due to the World Cup, but she was one I was prepared to wait for. She is a very exciting and talented player who definitely strengthens our attacking threat.”
Eikeland, who joins on a two-year deal, has been capped seven times by Norway and played against England in the World Cup quarter-final.
Chambers said of Bennink: “Maxime is a player that was brought to my attention and after watching her, I knew she would definitely fit in and strengthen my squad.
“She is very young, direct forward player who will give me different dimension in my front line. I am excited to get working with her.”
The Groenlo-born forward spent the last three seasons in the Eredivisie with PEC Zwolle, most recently finishing fifth in the Dutch top tier in 2018-19.
