Reading have re-signed defender Rachel Dugdale previously at Coventry United, while Georgia Wilson joins from Danish side AaB Kvinder.

Dugdale – formerly known as Newborough – was with the Royals’ academy before helping Doncaster Rovers Belles secure the WSL 2 title in 2017-18.

The Northern Ireland international with 18 caps, then spent three-and-a-half years at Charlton Athletic.

Dugdale told readingfc.co.uk: “I’m really excited to be here, obviously really proud to be able to come back to my hometown again, being at a club that means so much to be personally.

“It’s an exciting time to be at the club, made even better with the start of the season just around the corner, and getting straight down to business.”

Georgia Wilson was new head coach Liam Gilbert’s second signing of the day, the 21-year-old arriving with WSL experience having played eight times for Bristol City during a season that was ended abruptly for her by injury.

Wilson said: “After last season’s finish, the goal we’ve all set is to get back promoted into the WSL where the club belongs.

“It’s going to be a step up for me as well, a brilliant opportunity to learn, so I want to push myself and help the team out as much as possible.”
