Rangers edged Celtic 3-2 with a last-minute Rio Hardy penalty in the Sky Sports Cup semi-final on Friday evening.

Rachel Rowe rattled the crossbar as Rangers went close several times in the first half, before Chloe Craig opened the scoring in the second period for Celtic from the penalty spot, following a handball decision against Kathy Hill from Paula Partido’s shot.

Hill responded by forcing the ball over the line to level the scores, before Kirsty Maclean gave Rangers the advantage in the last ten minutes from Hardy’s cut-back.

Jenny Smith was taken down in the box by Tessel Middag and Craig again converted from the spot, to seemingly send the tie to extra time.

However, Hardy won it for Rangers with another penalty, having been fouled in the box by Caitlin Hayes.
