Arsenal beat Liverpool 4-0 in front of over 35,000 fans to move within five points of Barclays Women’s Super League leaders Chelsea from one game more.
Alessia Russo had a shot deflected into the side-netting and cleverly played in Frida Leonhardsen Maanum, who shot came back off the post.
Arsenal struck twice in very quick succession before the half-hour mark, Maanum’s flick on after a corner turned in by Caitlin Foord, who then pressured Jas Matthews into an own-goal from a Kim Little cross.
Maanum was denied by the upright a second time but Liverpool did concede a third close to half time, Mariona Caldentey with a superb finish past Rachel Laws.

Leah Williamson had a shot turned over by Laws following the interval, while a Beth Mead ball was deflected into the Liverpool goal for a second Matthews’ own-goal.
