Notts County CEO Makes Prestigious Black List

The list comprises of the most influential individuals from the black community within the sport.

Matthew follows in the footsteps of his father, Keith Alexander, who was named as just one of thirty people in the inaugural list in 2008, the list now consisting of just over 40 people.

Alexander took over the role of Chief Executive in December, after the departure of former CEO Luke Negus-Hill, and becomes only the second Chief Executive to ever been named in the list after former Sheffield United Chief Jason Rockett.

On being named, Matthew said, “It’s a huge honour for me to be recognised in this way.”

“My dad was ground breaking in a lot of the work he did for black people in football and the community, and although the game has moved on in the last few years to accept a lot more diversity, I’ve always tried to continue that work and to be recognised for that is very special to me.”

“My dad was not only an inspiration, but also a mentor to me, and if I can use my position to inspire and help someone else then I would be honoured to do so.”

Also included in the list is Arsenal forward Rachel Yankey OBE, who has been on loan with Notts County for the first half of the 2016 FA WSL season
