Northampton Town Women grab stoppage-time winner in League Cup

The FA Women’s National League Cup kicked off with wins for Billericay Town, Hull City and Northampton Town.

FAWNL Cup Determining Round

AFC Sudbury 1-4 Billericay Town (Att: 98)
Hull City 6-0 Lincoln City
Northampton Town 3-2 Cambridge United (Att: 351)

Northampton came from behind to knock out Cambridge United with Amber Pearson’s stoppage-time decider. Bella Simmons scored for the U’s, either side of Mia Richards and Jade Bell responding for the Cobblers.

Billericay also had to fightback in seeing off lower division AFC Sudbury, for whom Jess Allen opened the scoring. Iesha Swaby equalised before the half-hour mark but it was Maddie Briggs’ devastating 12-minute hat-trick that won it in the latter stages.

Hull scored all six goals of the game against Lincoln City in the first half, Shakala Brookes netting three of them.
