Wednesday 21st June
DANSKE BANK NIFL PREMIERSHIP

Linfield 1-1 Crusaders Strikers
Newry City 12-1 Cliftonville
Sion Swifts 4-3 Glentoran Belfast United

Linfield Lose Leadership

Crusaders went close on a number of occasions at Linfield, before the hosts took the lead 3 minutes before the break, Lyndsay Corry poking the ball home after Strikers failed to clear a corner.

Linfield put the visitors immense pressure in the second half and Sarah Venney went closest to scoring when hers long range effort hit the crossbar.

Crusaders began to work their way back into the game in the last 25 minutes and when Amy McGivern forced a backpass, Wilson intercepted it before rounding the keeper and finishing from a tight angle.

Moments before the final whistle, Strikers nearly stole all three points but Taylor Wright’s header off a Danielle McDowell cross was cleared off the line by Megan Bell.

Crusaders are in action again in Sunday’s only fixture, away to Sion Swifts at mid-day.

Curtis Clinches Double Hat-Trick

Newry City (pictured) hit top spot in style with a 12-1 dismissal of Cliftonville at the Showgrounds.

Celine Curtis netted a hat-trick in either half, with Amiee Mackin bagging a brace before half-time and Nikita O’Neill getting one back.

Mackin then completed her treble, Curtis added her second trio of goals, with Rayza De Souza bagging a brace and Claire Taylor scoring the other.

Double Success For Swifts

Sion Swifts moved six points ahead of fourth-placed Glentoran Belfast United, after edging them in a seven-goal thriller.

It was 2-2 at the interval, with Geny Decker and Julianne Herrity scoring for the hosts but the Glens hitting back with two goals in a three-minute spell.

Amy Boyle Carr put Sion back in front and although the Glentoran levelled again on 86 minutes, Chloe McGlade decided the game in Sion’s favour with a long-range effort that went in off the post.

There were more celebrations for the Swifts the same evening, as they beat eleven other nominees to win Club of the Year 2017 at the Derry & Strabane Council Sports Awards.
