Newcastle United have signed defender Lois Joel following the expiration of her contract with London City Lionesses this summer.
The 25-year-old Wales international was named captain of London City in 2023 and previously spent two seasons with West Ham United.
Joel told newcastleunited.com: “It’s a really exciting time to join this club. I met Becky and the girls who were all so lovely and I felt like I could fit in here straight away.
“It’s a big club and one that’s on the up with the women’s team. The girls have done really well to get promoted from tier three into the Championship and I hope just to bring a bit more experience in this league because it will bring a few different challenges.
“I can play in a couple of different positions as well, so it’s good to be able to give Becky some options – and hopefully I can bring some good vibes, too!”
Manager Becky Langley, who today signed a new long-term contract, added: “It’s great having Lois on board. She’s a really talented, versatile player and having captained London City Lionesses, will bring great experience to the team.
“Lois is a determined, intelligent player and person and we’re delighted she’s joined us.”
