Newcastle United beat Middlesbrough 2-0 in the FA Women’s National League, watched by 2,129 fans at Kingston Park Stadium.

Newcastle moved within one point of Division One North leaders Durham Cestria following Tuesday’s victory, achieved with goals from Kacie Elson and substitute Rebecca Ferguson.

Third-placed Barnsley edged Bradford City 1-0, Chorley got all three-goals at Merseyrail to go ninth.

Sporting Khalsa went second in Division One Midlands after holding leaders Stourbridge to a 2-2 draw. Stourbridge had almost 300 in attendance but twice fell behind to Olivia Woolston efforts, before Hannah Fishwick rescued a point.
