Netherlands & Sweden in Algarve Cup Final

Netherlands play Sweden in the Algarve Cup Final on Wednesday evening, after the Dutch drew with Iceland to win their group and Sweden won 3-0 against Russia.

In Group A, Australia ended top on goal-difference after beating China 2-0. Second-half efforts by Chloe Logarzo and Sam Kerr saw them finish above Portugal.

The Portuguese also won 2-0, over Norway, Claudia Neto and Diana Silva on target in a 13-minute spell straddling the interval.

Sweden won Group B after a 3-0 scoreline against Russia, with all the goals in a half-hour period. Filippa Angeldal’s goal was added to by a Fridolino Rolfö brace, with Russia’s Anna Belomytsseva red-carded at the end.

Canada defeated South Korea 3-0 with Christine Sinclair opening the scoring when following up her own saved penalty. In the last 20 minutes, Jessie Fleming doubled the lead and Sinclair struck again as second place was sealed.

The Group C tie between Iceland and Netherlands ended goalless, which was enough to see the Dutch take top spot.

Japan finished second after they were 2-0 winners over Denmark. Yui Hasegawa broke the deadlock 8 minutes from time and Mana Iwabuchi adding a stoppage-time penalty.
