James Honeyman has taken up a role with The FA, bringing an end to his successful two-and-a-half-year spell in charge of MK Dons Ladies.
Honeyman, who joined the MK Dons Sport and Education Trust in 2012, has been appointed the FA Women’s Technical Talent Coach to work within the Women’s National Pathway.
Charlie Bill and Owen Evans will take charge of MK Dons Ladies for the remainder of the FAWNL 2018/19 season.
“It’s with a heavy heart that I am leaving the club,” Honeyman told mkdons.com. “I have loved every minute of my time with the SET and in charge of the Ladies.
“I am extremely proud of what we have been able to achieve, not just on the pitch but also off it – doubling match attendances, quadrupling female participation with the club and, of course, becoming the first Ladies football team to play at the men’s stadium on a full-time basis.”
Appointed MK Dons Ladies manager in May 2016, Honeyman led the side to their first-ever promotion to the FA Women’s National League and a Berks & Bucks Senior Cup triumph.
This season, Honeyman has guided the Dons to their best-ever run in the SSE Women’s FA Cup, reaching the Fourth Round of the competition for the first time, while his team are also into the Quarter Finals of the FA Women’s National League Cup.
He enjoyed a 77.1% winning record during his time at the helm and leaves the team mid-table in the FA Women’s Premier League South table.

“While the Women’s team’s results and progress speaks for itself, the work James has established in developing the football pathway for young women, which has seen over 20 young women involved with the England set-up, sees him leave behind a fantastic legacy.”
