MK Dons Bring In Burgess from Bees

Mollie Burgess signs for MK Dons, as they aim to go one better in 2017-18, after finishing runners-up in the FAWPL South East Division 1.

The Dons say that Burgess had a recent spell at WSL 2 side London Bees, and before that featured for Watford.

The defender explained how the coaching staff and team influenced her decision to join the MK Dons:.

“I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to play this year, but after meeting the team and staff, I’m very excited to get going and for the season to begin.”

Reflecting on what she believes she brings to the team, Burgess continued: “I’m quite a calm player and hopefully that will be beneficial to the rest of the girls on the pitch.”

After considering not playing football this year, Burgess is hoping the 2017/18 season sees her enjoying her football once again, alongside helping the Dons achieve success.

She told mkdonsset.com: “Personally, I want to get back to enjoying football again and with that I’m hoping to help everyone clinch the league this year after missing out last season.”

Manager James Honeyman commented: “We are delighted to get Mollie in with us, like we have said we felt we need more quality, not quantity to be added to squad and Mollie is exactly that.”

“She has lots of super league experience and from the moment she came on trial, we were impressed with her whole demeanor.”

Honeyman continued explaining what he believes Burgess adds to the squad along with her higher league experience, as well as re-confirming how important her experience is.

Honeyman stated: “She brings an aggressive style of defending, but has the ability to drive out and play out with ease.

“She brings experience that can help to support the development of the younger players, and we are confident she can deliver straight away.”
