Mid Ulster U-16s beat their Ballymena United counterparts 2-1 in the Conveyortek Lisburn Castlereagh Junior League Cup Final.

Starting the game the stronger, Mid Ulster scored two quick goals to go in with a 2-0 half-time advantage.

Ballymena United came out of the blocks fantastically in the second half and got one goal back within minutes.

They could have been level minutes later but an opportunity went agonisingly wide for Ballymena.

Several more chances for an equaliser came before the end of the game but some great defending from Mid Ulster maintained their slender lead.

While Mid Ulster enjoy their success, Ballymena’s focus will return to the league campaign, where they are still in with a chance of becoming champions in the coming weeks.
