London City Lionesses Melissa Phillips has been awarded Barclays Women’s Championship Manager of the Month trophy for November by the LMA Panel.
The Lionesses moved top of the Barclays Women’s Championship with six points, as Phillips guided her team to victories over Birmingham City and Sheffield United.
Upon receiving the Manager of the Month trophy Phillips said: “I’m incredibly fortunate to lead a group of staff and players who have such strong character and drive. We are a focused group throughout the club right now and this recognition is a testament to the hard work that goes in daily from everyone. All the credit goes to the team and staff.”
Chair of the League Managers Association panel Faye White MBE added: “Melissa’s team continued their excellent run of form with two wins in November. They haven’t lost since the first game of the season and are mounting a serious title challenge, ahead of the winter break.
“Melissa has found a balance between expressive attacking play and being organised out of possession, with London City leading the way in the scoring and goal-difference charts, as well as edging ahead of Bristol City in the league table.”
