Marrs Landing For Charlton

Marrs appointed as 1st team coach

Charlton Athletic have appointed James Marrs as first team coach to assist head coach Riteesh Mishra during the forthcoming FA Women’s Premier League season.

Marrs managed Brighton & Hove Albion for two years from 2014, leading them to the FAWPL Southern title in 2015/16.

He left his previous position, manager of West Ham, in October and told cafcwomen.co.uk he is excited to be back coaching football again.

“I’m quite lucky because it’s nice and local for me and I’ve just missed coaching,” he said before his first training session. “I’ve not been coaching for a little while now so when the opportunity came up I had a discussion with Riteesh and [club secretary Sue Prior] and they obviously liked what they heard and I liked what I heard.

“I’ve had some fantastic games against Charlton and against some of the girls that are here over the last couple of seasons. I roughly know where some of them are, but there’s some new faces in so we’ll see how they get on.

The Addicks kick off their pre-season friendlies this Sunday, 16th July, with a mixed 1st team and Development fixture against Billericay Town at Sparrows Lane, ko 2.30pm.
