Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner has provided fitness updates on duo Jess Park and Millie Turner ahead of their Women’s Super League clash with Brighton.
Park withdrew from the recent England squad after suffering delayed concussion symptoms following United’s 4-1 win over Everton on October 12th.
She missed United’s Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid before missing England’s friendlies with Brazil and Australia despite originally making the squad.
Turner meanwhile has not featured since United’s 5-1 victory over London City Lionesses on September 12th.
The 29-year-old defender suffered an injury to her kneecap but fortunately avoided any serious ligament damage.
Will Jess Park play for Manchester United this weekend?
Manchester United head coach Skinner says Park is ‘ready to go’ against Brighton on Sunday, after withdrawing from England’s recent squad.
Skinner explained what happened to Park while revealing that she has been in full training in recent days.
He said: “Jess trained the other day so she is perfectly fine now. So basically what happened if you saw the hit (she suffered against Everton), she made a fantastic block and she just had some delayed onset the day after.
“We followed all of the protocols, all of the processes and testing, she was in for extra days.
“What I must stress is that if she wasn’t at any point okay, she would not be put into the team. But she’s trained fully and she’s ready to go.”
It is good news for United where Park has formed an exciting partnership with England teammate Ella Toone.
Park only joined the club in the summer, in a move that saw Grace Clinton head in the opposite direction to Manchester City.
When will Millie Turner return for Manchester United?
Manchester United fans have a longer wait on their hands for Millie Turner to return to action from her knee injury.
Turner made just two WSL appearances, before suffering the injury at the start of the season.
However, Skinner suggested that Turner might not return to action until 2026.
Skinner said: “Millie’s progressing really well, we’re really happy with her progression. It’s still looking like it will be after Christmas (when she will return).
It has been a frustrating season for Turner who only missed one WSL game in the three previous seasons combined.
Turner was taken off on a stretcher during United’s 5-1 win over the Lionesses in September, though the injury was not as bad as what was initially feared.
How Park has performed in debut season for United
Park has been one of Manchester United’s star performers in the WSL since her move from Manchester City.
During the game she suffered a delayed concussion, Park scored two goals off the bench in a 4-1 victory.
In terms of goals vs xG numbers, she is the second-highest overachieving player in the WSL, scoring three goals from an xG of 0.7
She also features highly among players across the WSL in terms of chances created, successful passes and defensive stats including recoveries and aerial duels.
Park also won the WSL Player of the Month award for October, after impressing in the victory over Everton and the 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
