Manchester United have signed French international forward Melvine Malard on a season-long loan deal from Lyon.

She has over 20 caps for France and has won the UEFA Women’s Champions League four times with Lyon.

Malard told manutd.com: “I am truly very happy to be here, and to join this club and this city. I cannot wait to meet the fans and get started.”

Head coach Marc Skinner said: “Melvine’s honours speak for themselves, and we are delighted to welcome a proven winner at domestic and European level to our Manchester United family. Melvine will no doubt excite our fans and bring a fluid attacking quality to our team.”

Head of Women’s Football Polly Bancroft added: “Melvine brings to us undeniable Champions League winning experience, which will be valuable for our maiden European season. We are thrilled to secure her signature.”

Meanwhile, United have loaned 19-year-old winger Alyssa Aherne to Everton and 18-year-old defender Jess Simpson to Bristol City.
