Manchester United went four points clear at the top of the Barclays Women’s Super League while Brighton got off the bottom.

Manchester United took the lead on half-time, Alessia Russo slotting home a Nikita Parris cutback. Aoife Mannion missed an earlier chance for the hosts, while Arsenal lost Leah Williamson to injury.
Manuela Zinsberger denied Russo a second soon after the interval, Mannion blocked a chance from Stina Blackstenius before Zinsberger herself had a late effort off target when up for a late corner.
Brighton climbed off the foot of the table at the expense of Leicester City when defeating Everton 3-2.
Elisabeth Terland headed them in front from Poppy Pattinson’s delivery and before the break Katie Robinson doubled the advantage.
Katja Snoeijs pulled one back before Terland scored her second following Kayleigh Green’s run in the 80th minute.
Although Snoeijs replied again to make it a tense finish for Brighton, they did claim a precious victory.
Birmingham City went second in the Barclays Women’s Championship when edging Durham 1-0.
Tara Bourne scored on the hour mark when following up a Louise Quinn header.
City keeper Lucy Thomas kept a clean sheet with fine saves to thwart Georgia Robert and Sarah Robson, while the post denied Sarah Wilson.
The result put the Blues within four points if leaders Bristol City, with two games left each.
