Manchester City beat Chelsea to go above them in the Barclays Women’s Super League and level on points with leaders Man Utd.
Manchester City 2-0 Chelsea (Att: 5,222)
Aston Villa 5-0 Leicester City
Reading 2-2 Brighton & Hove Albion
Manchester City sent Chelsea to defeat to make sure they stayed right among the title-chasers.
Sophie Ingle forced a good save from Ellie Roebuck but City then scored twice before the half-hour mark.
Philippa Angeldahl was allowed time to chip the ball into the far corner, which was also the outcome when Chelsea failed clear and Lauren Hemp thumped the loose ball home.
Brighton made a great start at Reading with two goals inside quarter of an hour, Veatriki Sarri getting both, the second following Guro Bergsvand’s header from a corner.
Emma Harries replied straight after the interval and then levelled on 55 minutes by heading home Lily Woodham’s cross.
The draw sees the Royals now four points off the bottom and Albion two above the Foxes.
Aston Villa were three goals to the good against basement side Leicester City by the break.
Kenza Dali struck early on from outside the box, Alisha Lehmann netted a Kirsty Hanson cross, with Rachel Daly also on target close to the break.
Daly doubled her tally ten minutes into the second half and Lehmann got her second when turning in from Mayumi Pacheco.
