London City Lionesses have confirmed that Lotta Lindström will play the remainder of this season on loan in the Championship with Birmingham City.
The Blues are title hopefuls and the addition of an experienced WSL star is sure to help their promotion charge.
Lotta Lindström moves to Birmingham City
London City Lionesses forward, Lotta Lindström, has struggled for game time this season.
The 21-year-old signed for the WSL side while they were still in the Championship in 2024. Lindström didn’t play much during the Lionesses promotion season as she suffered a devastating ACL injury.
After nearly a year out of action, Lindström returned to the pitch in September 2025.
Despite coming back to the team at the start of this season the Finnish international hasn’t been able to break back into the team.
Lindström has started just two games this season – both in the women’s FA Cup. With no starts and just five appearances off the bench in the WSL, it is no surprise that the forward has decided to take her talents elsewhere.
More firepower for the run-in. 🔥

Upon her arrival in Birmingham, Lindström said: “I’m really excited to be here and get started with the team.
“I think it’s a really nice club with big ambitions and I want to be part of achieving those goals the club have set.”
Birmingham City in title charge
Birmingham City are in the midst of a promotion battle. Three teams have the chance to get promoted this year with the expansion of the WSL in 2026.
The Blues are currently in a prime position to go up and automatic promotion is certainly on the cards.
Amy Merricks’ side are three points clear of Bristol City in third but the top four is close heading into the second half of the campaign.
Birmingham are five points behind the league leaders, Charlton. With the top two facing off in the final game this season, the title could go down to the wire.
