Liverpool manager Matt Beard has signed an extended contract ahead of the new Barclays Women’s Super League season.
The Reds’ big kick-off comes away to Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Sunday 1 October, with around 45,000 tickets sold for the game so far.
Beard told Liverpoolfc.com: “I’m delighted. Obviously everyone knows what the club means to me, so it was an easy decision really for me to extend my stay here.
“I think we’re [at the] early stages of a big project and you’ve really got the future to look forward to.
“I’m excited for the future of the team because I think we’ve got a good group here, a good young group as well that can grow.”
“We want to improve on last year – we’d like to try to break into that top five if we can – and we do want to compete in all the competitions.”
Meanwhile, Natasha Dowie has taken up the role of the club’s women’s ambassador, after having announced her retirement from playing.
Dowie said of the appointment: “I’m going to be getting involved with the U18s at the Academy with the boys, I’m going to be working with LFC Foundation, I’ve been doing matchday appearances, working the lounges, doing Q&As and obviously doing my LFCTV stuff as well, which I love.”
