England thrashed their UEFA U-17 Championship qualfying tournament hosts Latvia 10-0, after Scotland had defeated Slovakia by the only goal in Riga.
Not only did the Young Lionesses’ Lauren James take just moments to score but she went on to complete a hat-trick in the first 25 minutes, with England amassing an incredible 58 shots in total.
Jessica Park also claimed a treble, with James later adding her fourth, Ebony Salmon, Hannah Griffin and substitute Annabel Blanchard also getting on the scoresheet.
Scotland and Slovakia earlier kicked off the Group 2 qualifying mini-tournament in Riga, with Leah Fleming’s goal inside the half-hour proving decisive
The next matches are on Wednesday, when Scotland play Latvia at 9am (UK time) and England take on Slovakia at 1pm.
The top two in each group and the five third-placed sides (from eleven groups) with the best record against the leading pair in their group, accompany top seeds Germany into the 28-team elite round.
The draw for the Elite Round will be on 24th November and seven nations will eventually qualify for the finals alongside hosts Lithuania.
