Limerick got life in the FAI Continental Tyres Women’s National League off to a flying start with a 4-0 victory over Kilkenny United on 11th March.

Aisling O’Connor saw her cross turned in by Lauren Keane to give the hosts an interval lead and Sylia Gee doubled the lead soon after the restart, when Kilkenny failed to clear their lines.

Keane took advantage of a slip in the Kilkenny defence to prod home from close range and Megan Kelleher added a fourth late on to give Limerick a perfect start to the season.

Two games fell victim to the weather but elsewhere, Cork City were 2-0 winners at Galway.

Savannah McCarthy broke the deadlock early in the second half with a long-range effort.

In the 64th minute, Cork had doubled their lead from the penalty spot through Saoirse Noonan after Galway committed a foul inside the area.
