Lewes lifted the Sussex County FA Women’s Challenge Cup with a 4-0 victory over Crawley Wasps at Culver Road on Thursday 22nd March.
Although the Rookettes play two levels higher than the London & South East League table-toppers, they had to be content with a one-goal advantage at the break.
Georgia Bridges made the breakthrough on 24 minutes, with a finish into the bottom corner from Leeta Rutherford’s pin-point pass.
However, the second half was only moments old when the lead was doubled, Rebecca Carter smashing the ball into the top corner from 30-yards out.
It was 3-0 midway through the second period, Avilla Bergin threading the ball through to Bridges who finished with a fine strike.
The last goal came from a swift counter attack, resulting in Danielle Lane slotting the ball past goalkeeper Frankie Gibbs.
