A late leveller and stoppage-time winner put Leafield Athletic on the verge of escaping the FA Women’s National League Division 1 Midlands relegation zone.

Solihull Moors struck first through Tizzy Russell-Cartwright, Leafield levelled on 38 minutes when Ali Miller was brought down in the box and Seanna McCann buried the penalty.

The Moors regained the advantage just before the break, forcing an own-goal from the home side.

Leafield’s efforts to get back on level terms finally paid dividends inside the last ten minutes, Grace Godwin getting on the scoresheet.

It got even better for Athletic in added time, as substitute Evie Gallop fired in a dramatic winner.

Although Leafield remain in the bottom two, they are now level on points with Leek Town, who visit basement side Sheffield FC tonight (Wednesday).

The victory also moved Leafield within two points of Notts County, who have a tough home match with leaders Loughborough Lightning on Thursday 4 April.
