Scotland’s World Cup preparations were boosted in some style when Shelley Kerr’s side beat Brazil.
In an incredibly feisty game, Scotland and Brazil shared a host of chances between them but it was the team in blue who came out on top, reports scottishfa.co.uk.
A Kim Little strike in the first half, finishing off a scintillating run from Lizzie Arnot was was all that it took to secure the win.
Shelley Kerr made three changes to the side which drew 1-1 to Chile with Sophie Howard, Leanne Crichton and Claire Emslie restored to the starting line-up.
Ranked 10th in the world Brazil came into the game on the back off eight straight defeats against some of the world’s top nations.
After 6 minutes Howard nearly made the perfect return to the Scotland squad for the first time since August, when she hit the crossbar with a header from a corner.
Four minutes later Brazil were inches from hitting the back of the net through a rasping drive from Thaisa.
Scotland were looking at home against the highly ranked side and Jen Beattie went close after 16 minutes when she directed a Kim Little cross narrowly wide of the target.
In what was a lively start to the game, Brazil caught Scotland off guard with a set-piece after 20 minutes but Alexander was able to grasp the ball under a lot of pressure.
Brazil then hit the post through Letica who latched onto a long ball inside the box.
Erin Cuthbert nearly doubled her tally for the week when she shot from just inside the box but failed to gain a good connection and it swerved wide of the post.
With 38 minutes on the clock Scotland took the lead. Lizzie Arnot attacked down the right and crossed into Kim Little who was able to fire home.
The start of the second half was less as frantic as the first with chances few and far between.
Scotland remained tight at the back knowing a famous result was on the cards and in the second 45 minutes Lee Alexander led her backline well to limit Brazil opportunities.
Going forward, Caroline Weir tested Aline with a strike from distance and the Man City midfielder was close to scoring a second at the end following an Arnot assist.
