Italy and Sweden to contest Algarve Women’s Cup Final

Sweden and Italy will meet in the Algarve Cup Final on Wednesday following their victories over Portugal and Norway respectively.

Sweden struck four times against Portugal in a 20-minute second-half spell, Hanna Glas breaking the deadlock.

Amanda Ilestedt, Kosovare Asllani and Arsenal’s Stina Blackstenius added one each.

Italy were two up inside half an hour against Norway, Valentia Giacinti and Arianna Caruso finding the net.

Celin Bizet replied in first-half stoppage-time but Norway were unable to go on and find an equaliser.

They now face Portugal for third place, with both Wednesday’s games kicking off at 11am UK time.

Denmark earlier withdrew from the tournament following positive Covid cases.
