Ireland squad for opening Women’s World Cup qualifiers

Republic of Ireland get their 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign started next week and Vera Pauw has selected a 27-player squad.

Sweden visit Tallaght Stadium on Thursday 21 October for a 7pm start, before Ireland are away to Finland on Tuesday 26 October at 4.15pm, with both games live on RTÉ2.

All tickets have already been sold for the Sweden game, with the stadium operating at a reduced capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Injuries rule out Keeva Keenan, Claire O’Riordan, Megan Campbell, Alli Murphy, Clare Shine (ankle), Ruesha Littlejohn (foot), Isibeal Atkinson (quad) and Hayley Nolan (shoulder).

The squad will begin their preparations for the two games on Sunday 17 October, with their first training session at the FAI National Training Centre.
