Ireland out of Women’s U-19 Euros, England to face Spain

Republic of Ireland bowed out of the UEFA Women’s U-19 Championship, England are to play Spain in the semi-finals.

Ireland needed to win the final group game against the Netherlands to reach the semi-finals but found themselves behind inside 20 minutes, a Jade van Hensbergen cross was headed home via the underside of the crossbar by Karlijn Voons.

Katie Keane turned a Lotte Keukelaar effort over the top and got a boot to her shot to deny the Dutch a two-goal half-time lead.

Joy Ralph hit the post from outside the box early in the second half, Keane had to tip over the bar from Keukelaar again and then Van Hensbergen.

On the hour mark, Mirte van Koppen was sent through the middle by Keukelaar to fire the Netherlands two up.

Holders Spain beat Germany 2-0 to eliminate them and set up a semi-final with England, Netherlands will meet France for a place in the final.

Noemie Bejerano put the Spanish ahead on 14 minutes, Paula Comendador making sure of victory four minutes from time.

England v Spain (Marijampolė Stadium, 12pm BST)
Netherlands v France (Darius & Girenas Stadium, 4pm BST)

The final is on Saturday 27 July at Darius & Girenas Stadium in Kaunas, kick-off 4pm BST.
