Ipswich Town have signed former England youth international defender Olivia Smith from FA Women’s Championship side Charlton Athletic.
The 21-year-old, who has 16 caps for England at youth level, had a spell with West Ham before joining London Bees last summer, moving on from there to sign for Charlton Athletic.
She played 20 times for the Addicks but turned down a contract extension at the end of the season, as Charlton’s decision to go full-time clashed with Smith’s career in the police force.
Smith becomes the Blues’ first signing of the summer ahead of their FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division campaign.
