Inverness City Ladies go third in #SWFL1 North

Third-placed Scottish League sides did not fare well, as Aberdeen U-23s surrendered their place in the North to Stonehaven and Cumbernauld Colts suffered a surprise defeat to Boroughmuir Thistle in the South.

SWFL 1 North

While East Fife remained five points clear with s 6-3 defeat of Dee Ladies, second-placed Dundee United were 3-1 winners over Aberdeen U-23s, who were leapfrogged into third by Inverness City – 1-0 victors at Deveronvale with an Alex Andrews effort in the 83rd minute.

Buchan came from behind to beat a Dunfermline Athletic side who are four places above them by the odd goal in seven, while Cove Rangers posted a 3-1 result over Raith Rovers.

SWFL 1 South

Hibernian U-23s still hold the advantage on goal-difference at the top after thrashing Blackburn United 10-1 – with the aid of trebles by Nicole Rutherford and Kirsty Morrison – and second in the table Celtic Academy sank Morton 5-0.

Boroughmuir Thistle went ninth when pulling off a 1-0 win at third-placed Cumbernauld Colts, who are joined on 22 points by Queens Park after a 2-0 success at Falkirk. Renfrew and Thistle Weir also gained ground on the Colts with their meeting finishing 1-1, Claire Rae levelling from the spot for the hosts.

SWFL 2  – West title race tightens up further

There’s only one point between the top four in 2 West, as Pollok United and Bishopston closed in on Ayr United and Kilmarnock U-23s with a 9-3 goalfest against Kilwinning and 3-1 result over Rutherglen respectively. United Glasgow finished seven up against Stranraer and St Mirren moved into the top half with three unanswered goals against Gleniffer Thistle.

Stonehaven have a bigger lead on goal-difference over Montrose in 2 North, the former having stormed to a 17-1 victory at Buckie, the latter beating Buchan Youth 11-1. Turriff United’s second win of the season came 5-0 against Caithness, whom they overtook in the table to sit seventh. Moray rose to third with a 4-1 win at Ross County.

Three of the top four in 2 Central were awarded matches; Airdrie. Glasgow City DS and Motherwell DS gifted points from fixtures against East Kilbride, Cumbernauld Colts Yellows and Central Girls Academy respectively. Second-placed Glasgow Girls DS had to work for their rewards though, as they won 3-1 at home to Hamilton Academical U-23s. West Park United third win of the campaign came when edging a seven-goal thriller against mid-table Broxburn Athletic, while Stenhousemuir netted five goals at Hawick United.

Victories for 2 East’s leading three, as Spartans DS got both goals against Dundee City, Kelty Hearts defeated fourth-placed Dryburgh Athletic 4-2 and Edinburgh Caledonia had a walkover with Hutchison Vale DS.  Hearts DS are sixth having won 4-1 at GOC Academy and East Fife Violets won by the same score at Lothian to rise to ninth.
