Glentoran stay on course for title after draw with Cliftonville

Cliftonville followed up their draw at Sports Direct Women’s Premiership leaders Glentoran with a 6-0 win at Ballymena United 48 hours later.

Glentoran 1-1 Cliftonville

Caitlin McGuinness gave Cliftonville the lead in front of a 510-strong crowd at Glentoran but the leaders remained nine point clear of their visitors from two games more, thanks to Kerry Beattie’s 51st-minute penalty.

With Cliftonville now having no margin for slip-ups in their title chase, they went to basement side Ballymena United on Wednesday, coming away with a 6-0 victory to cut Glentoran’s lead to six points with one game in hand.

Sion Swifts moved within two points of third-placed Crusaders, following their 4-0 win at Derry City. Linfield are a dozen points ahead of Lisburn Ladies, after winning their mid-table meeting 5-0. Larne were 4-2 winners at Mid Ulster, who stay goal-difference off the bottom of the table.
