Glentoran edge Linfield out of Electric Ireland Women’s Cup

Glentoran edged Linfield 2-1 on Friday evening to reach the Electric Ireland Women’s Challenge Cup quarter-finals.

Jessica Foy opened the scoring for Glentoran, Linfield levelled at the start of the second half but Nadene Caldwell netted a 77th-minute decider for the Glens.

Mid Ulster went through 4-0 at Antrim Town, Aimee McClure, Jessica Magee and Niamh O’Donnell all scored in the first 25 minutes, Aoibhin Gallen later completing the scoring.

Cliftonville were 5-0 winners over Lisburn Ladies, Marissa Callaghan scoring twice while there was one each for Danielle Maxwell, Louise McDaniel and Carla Devine.

Crusaders progressed 3-1 at Greenisland, where Alison McMaster and Beth Chalmers were among the goals for Strikers.

Top-flight Derry City proved too much for previous giantkillers Civil Service, with the Candystripes coasting through 14-0. Tara O’Conner-Farren led the way with a five-goal haul, substitute Chelsea Sheerin scored four times.

Larne, Lisburn Rangers and Bangor Ladies are the other three sides in the hat for the quarter-final draw.
