Caitlin Hayes fired Celtic ahead against Hearts close to the interval to lead the table, Natasha Flint doubled the lead with around 15 minutes left.
Rangers and Glasgow City were both still seeking a breakthrough in their clash at Ibrox and it arrived in a dramatic finale.
City’s Lauren Davidson scored in stoppage-time but Rangers peppered their goal, with Kirsty Howard getting the ball in the net but pulled back for a foul on keeper Lee Gibson.
Dundee United’s draw with Hamilton ensured they stay up, while the Accies must play the SWPL 2 runners-up for their place on Sunday 4 June.
Hibernian won 2-1 at Partick Thistle, with the game decided by an own-goal at the stat if the second half.
Motherwell defeated Aberdeen to end 27 points ahead of them, Glasgow Women failed to get off the mark having list at Spartans.

Gartcairn finished runners-up and will enter the promotion play-off final in a fortnight at Broadwood Stadium, kick off 4.10pm and live on BBC ALBA.
There were just five points between second and fifth places, Kilmarnock and St Johnstone third and fourth respectively, Boroughmuir Thistle fifth following defeat by champions Montrose.
