West Ham United have signed Germany international midfielder Julia Simic from SC Freiburg.
Simic has played twice for her country, won two German Cups and the Bundesliga title with VfL Wolfsburg in 2017.
The 29-year-old joined Bayern Munich aged just 16 and stayed there for eight years, later helping Turbine Potsdam reach the Champions League semi-finals.
Simic has a UEFA Women’s U-19 Championship medal and helped Germany to a third-place finish at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, before making her senior debut against in 2016.
“I’ve been in the Bundesliga for 13 years now, as I started when I was 16, and I always dreamed of going to another country and playing for a team outside Germany and now is the time,” said Simic to whufc.com.
“I’m 29 now and I’m old enough to go and see some other things; a new country, a new culture and also a new language.”
