Stevenage FC has appointed former England Women’s boss Mark Sampson as caretaker manager after they sacked Dino Maamria.

Sampson recently joined the coaching staff at the Hertfordshire club, which just missed out on the Play-Offs last season but have failed to win so far this term and are next-to-bottom in the League Two table.

The club said that Sampson will be assisted in his new temporary role by newly appointed U-18 team manager Alex Revell, until further notice.
