Sunderland have secured the services of five first-team players ahead of the 2022-23 FA Women’s Championship season.

Keira Ramshaw, Emma Kelly, Louise Griffiths, Emily Scarr and Jessica Brown have all signed deals until the end of next season, while Neve Herron remains under contract.

Black Cats veteran and captain Ramshaw told safc.com: “I am delighted to have signed another deal with my hometown club Sunderland. This club means the world to me.

“I can’t wait to get started with all the Lasses, Mel [Reay], Steph [Libbey] and all the staff, and work towards our squad targets.”

Vice-captain Kelly begins her second season with the side, while Griffiths remained one of Sunderland most-used players last term in her eleventh year with the club.

Scarr was joint top-scorer in the Championship last season and Brown established herself as a regular in the first-team.
