Sunderland Women have signed former England U-21 international Mollie Rouse from Turbine Potsdam on a professional contract.

Initially with Aston Villa, the midfielder played for Louisville Cardinals and UCF Knights in America, before spells with Championship sides Lewes and London City Lionesses.

The 24-year-old, who has been capped by England at U-17 through to U-21 level, spent last season with Turbine Potsdam.

Head coach Mel Reay told safc.com: “I am delighted to bring Mollie to Sunderland. She has vast amounts of Championship and international experience and will add more depth and quality to our midfield. She will go straight into tomorrow’s squad against Crystal Palace.”
