Five-player shortlist for BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year

The BBC has announced a five-player shortlist for its 2023 Women’s Footballer of the Year award, for which voting is now open.

The five contenders for the BBC World Service accolade were decided upon by a panel of coaches, players, administrators and journalists.

The shortlist:

  • Aitana Bonmati – Spain and Barcelona
  • Mary Earps – England and Manchester United
  • Sam Kerr – Australia and Chelsea
  • Alexandra Popp – Germany and Wolfsburg
  • Fridolina Rolfö – Sweden and Barcelona

Voting closes at 9am on Friday 3 November, with the winner to be announced on Tuesday 28 November on BBC World Service and the BBC Sport website.
